Growth is the foundation of every success, and one name shines as the true embodiment of this principle—Rufa Kristel Llanes. As the first employee of InsBOSS, Rufa’s journey from the company’s inception to her current role as Senior Team Lead in the QA Department is nothing short of extraordinary. Her growth is not just a testament to her hard work and dedication but also a reflection of the values and vision that InsBOSS holds dear. From her humble beginnings as a Virtual Assistant to becoming a leader within the organization, Rufa has evolved alongside InsBOSS, embodying the spirit of resilience, learning, and unwavering commitment. In this spotlight, we take a closer look at Rufa’s journey—a journey that exemplifies what it means to grow with a company, to lead by example, and to inspire others to reach new heights.

A Pioneer’s Path: From VA to Senior Team Lead

Rufa began her journey with InsBOSS as employee #1, joining the team on day one as part of Wave 1. Starting as a Virtual Assistant (VA), she quickly advanced to a support role, and today, she holds the position of Senior Team Lead and Department POC in the QA Department. Her evolution within the company mirrors the growth of InsBOSS itself, as both have expanded and developed hand in hand. Reflecting on her journey, Rufa shares, “I’ve been with InsBOSS since day one, starting as employee #1 and part of wave 1. I began as a VA before opting to advance and assume a support role. Now, I work for the QA Department as the designated Department POC and Senior Team Lead.” Her role is critical, not just in maintaining the quality of our services, but also in nurturing the culture and values that define InsBOSS.

Believing in the Vision: Growth Through Freedom

For Rufa, the vision and mission of InsBOSS are more than just words—they are a personal commitment. Having worked closely with the founders, Joe and Chris, since the inception of the company, Rufa has been a steadfast believer in their vision to provide opportunities for fellow Filipinos. “I believe I am a clear example of their vision, which aims to bring freedom to every life we touch,” she says.

Her belief is not just theoretical; it has translated into real, tangible growth in her own life. “I lacked sufficient professional experience before joining InsBOSS, but they trained and taught me everything I needed to know. Now, I’m experiencing freedom in many aspects, including financially, in terms of knowledge, and having more options and resources,” Rufa explains. This freedom has empowered her to give back, helping the company achieve its goals and supporting her team with unwavering dedication.

When asked which of our core values resonates with her the most, Rufa finds it hard to choose. “They both hold equal importance to me,” 

she says, highlighting her commitment to both her work in the QA Department and her role in supporting her team.

Rufa’s commitment to the company’s core values is evident through her proactive leadership style. She consistently strives to guide her team and transfer her knowledge, demonstrating genuine care for both her team and the wider Operations. This dedication to collective growth—both her own and her team’s—has been a major driving force behind her success at InsBOSS.

By embodying these values in her daily work, she has not only fostered her personal growth but has also helped shape the broader company culture. Her leadership style serves as a testament to the idea that when leaders lead by example, they inspire others to follow suit.

Growth is frequently born from challenges, and Rufa’s journey is no exception. As a Senior Team Lead in QA, she has faced numerous obstacles, particularly during periods of significant organizational change and department reengineering. Despite these hurdles, her leadership and commitment to growth have truly shone through.

“The past few quarters of last year have been particularly difficult and extremely stressful for all of us as we’ve been reengineering the entire QA process,” Rufa recalls. “As their leader, I witnessed their serious struggles, yet they remained committed to supporting the project because they’re invested in our progress as the business grows”.

This experience not only solidified Rufa’s role as a leader but also highlighted the importance of resilience and persistence in the face of adversity. Her ability to navigate these challenges while maintaining her team’s morale and commitment is a testament to her growth as a leader.

Shaping Company Culture: Growth Through Evolving Values
As InsBOSS has grown, so too have its values. Having been with the company since its inception, Rufa has witnessed the evolution of these values and their impact on the company culture. She sees the shift as a natural progression that aligns more closely with InsBOSS’ mission and vision.

“By aligning our organizational values with our mission and vision, we can foster continuous growth as a company,” Rufa observes. She believes that the values are more focused and actionable, providing a clearer path for IBFMs to contribute to the company’s growth.

Rufa’s insight into the evolution of InsBOSS’ values highlights the importance of adaptability and the willingness to embrace change as key drivers of growth. Her ability to lead by example, 

applying these values in her daily work, has been instrumental in shaping the positive, growth-oriented culture at InsBOSS.

As the first IBFM, Rufa Kristel Llanes has not only grown with the company but has also played a pivotal role in fostering the growth of others. Her journey as a VA to a seasoned Senior Team Lead serves as an inspiration to all new IBFMs looking to embrace the company’s culture and values.

Her advice to new IBFMs is simple yet profound: “Perseverance or persistence is essential. Nothing worthwhile comes easily. If we aspire to achieve greater things in life, we must remain open and prepared to embrace all possibilities.” This mindset, coupled with a commitment to continuous learning and collaboration, is the foundation of Rufa’s growth story.
